                                                Life Cycle of Frogs

Tadpoles beginning to form legs.

As a fun science lesson, this past spring we learned about the life cycle of a frog. I have a friend who has a pond in her backyard that was overflowing with tadpoles so she caught some and let us have them. We watched them grow from tadpoles to baby frogs. My kids had a blast watching them change over several weeks. We learned frog facts and did many frog crafts. We kept them in a small critter box I found at Walmart for $5. We used shells and rocks we already had around the house. Dollar weeds make perfect floating lily pads! We charted their progress and physical changes every morning. My kids had so much fun learning about frogs that we will be doing this every year.

Another fun activity we did involving frog life cycle was bake Frog Bread...yummy! Despite your first thoughts, the recipe does NOT include frogs :).
